I went pheasant hunting with my dad and brother yesterday. We had 3 of the big 4 pumps represented.

I have a 500, brother with a Winchester 1300, and my dad has a Remington 870 express.

Of these 3 which one do you think would be lighter? All have wood hardware, and same barrel length.

I'm going to say the Winchester is the lightest of the 3.
I could be way off because I haven't handled a 500 in a long time but I know the 870 has some heft compared to the 1300.

Assuming they all are outfitted about the same and have no external doodads, I would say the 1300 and the Mossy coming in very close to each other sinch they have alloy receivers.

The 870 is a big ole' hunk of steel and light is not an attribute I first think of with the 870, course this is one of the reasons I like the 870. :D

Well, it was a bit of a trick question. The 870 was lighter that day.

I should have mentioned they were all loaded with ammo when we did our scientific measurement. (hold one in each hand)
The 1300 and 500 were close to equal.
My dad only kept 2 shells total in his gun.

well, I checked all three websites and with 3" chambers, 28" VR barrels,screw-in chokes, and wood furniture they all claim to weigh in at 7lb. 8oz. empty.
