My dad gave me his 1970's era (I think) 3-screw. I haven't shot it a lot because I really like the MKIII/ultimate cliploader combination for rapid, easy reloads. But I got the Single Six out yesterday and boy, what fun! Delicous 4-click action, locks up like a bank vault, fun to load, shoot, and reload, recoils just enough to make you smile, hits every time. I love this thing.

I had a .44 Mag vaquero that I (stupidly) sold because it didn't have the 4 clicks, which apparently I need. Now I'm thinking about an older Blackhawk in .45 Colt to match my Single Six.

If you want the classic 4 click experience in a classic looking gun check out the Uberti and Pietta lineups. They are fixed sight guns but they have a cleaner look if that is what you're after. The key is to pick a load for them and then file down the sight blade to match the POI and then stick with that load.

On the other hand if you would like to shoot a wide variety of loads then you're on the right track with an older "classic" 3 screw Blackhawk courtesy of the adjustable rear sight.

I have the 50th Year Single-Six Convertible....WAAAAAY UP on the 'Fun Gun' list. When I want a bit more Bang! without bringing out the .357 Vaquero, I'll put in the .22Mag cylinder and blaze away.

that is a good looking shootin' iron.

My first SA revolver was an "Old Model 3-Screw" .357 Blackhawk. Cried like a baby for months when it was stolen......

Ahhh, that's what I want next. A sweet old blued 3 screw Single Six with a bit of patina. 5.5" barrel and fixed sights, preferable.

I know what you mean about 4 clickers. That's why I'd go with the Old Model Single Six. Even my cheapo Heritage is a 4 clicker. That's also why my father went with a Uberti Cattleman in .45 Colt over a Ruger. Yeah, the Ruger is more durable, but those Ubertis are more "authentic". As I understand it, most of the parts are interchangable (handfitting may be necessary) with 1st gen Colt SAAs.

Coyote, we've all seen lots of skillfully done and very pretty photographs of pistols and revolvers, but pictures of true sidearms are rare. Thanks for yours.

If there is a more fun gun to shoot than an Old Model Single Six, I have not found it!

Sigh.....that looks exactly like the one I had stolen last year. Hell of a gun, I don't think it had been shot more than a handful of times in its life, it looked brand new.

I have a 6.5" model now with both cylinders, and it needs some nice grips like yours
