I am going to load some 30 06 180 gr. spcl. and I would like to know opinions from some other loaders. Powder is hard for me to get right now, but, I have my choice of h414, h4350 and Ram Shot Big Game and Hunter. What is your favorite and why ?

All the powders that you listed will work fairly well with 180gr bullets. H4350 should give you top velocity, but Ramshot Hunter could surprise you. Run some samples of each and see what they give you for accuracy and pick one to work up.
There's no magic load, but the 30'06 is flexible and works with many different variables.

One thing to consider.....Ramshot Powders have been the best available line up of powders on the market. H4895 has be hard to find period. H414 and H4350 seem to be found, but you have to look! Just something to consider!

You do realize you wrote 4895 in the title and 4350 in the text of the post, right?

4895 is the classic 30-06 powder.
4350 will give you great results with heavier bullets like the 180gr bullet you are going to use.
Many reloaders swear by H414 and W760 for the 30-06 and with good reason. (both are the same powders)

So what I'm saying is, 4895, 4350 and H414 will all produce good accurate 30-06 ammo without a doubt. I would suggest loading up a few of each and seeing which shoot best in your rifle. I personally use H4350 with a 165/168gr bullet.

As for the Ramshot powders, sorry I can't recommend one because I haven't used any of them yet but from what I read on the Ramshot site Big Game is better suited for the 30-06 than Hunter. I'm sure both will do fine in a pinch considering Hunter has a similar burn rate as 4350.

IMR4350 always gives stellar results with 180gr bullets, but such a slow powder will harm an M1. You may get a few more FPS with other powders, but if a .30-'06 won't shoot with 4350 it won't shoot with anything.

Thanks for your replies. I think I will try the 4350 and 414, and hold off on the big game and hunter, untill I get more info. on them. I bought some H414 at an Eastman show last night for $22.00 Lb. . I thought the 414 was one of the cheaper powders. But, the way availability is now, nothing is cheap. If any of you primer chasers are close to middle Ga., today is the last day of that show in Macon Ga., and, vendors there have all size CCI primers for $36.00 a 1000.

I love H414/WW760 in 06 with heavier bullets, and if you meter charges it flows exceptionally well and has good load density. I have found that magnum primers are a must to reduce flyers with H414/WW760. Can't go wrong wrong with any version of 4350 either, and I kinda consider H414/WW760 as my "Ball 4350".

Here's the link to Ramshot powders and their load data, if you were not aware. All Ramshot powders are spherical (ball) powders and flow smoothly through measures. They should be used with magnum primers too.
