30-06 - How much does it cost to reload?

I have some LC66, LC69, LC72, and HXP 30-06 ammo I bought a few years ago from the CMP.

Not counting the start up costs, how much does it cost per round to reload 30-06 for the Garand if you already have the brass?

Off the top of my head?

Good bullets are $20 - $25 per hundred, or about .25 cents each.
Primers are around $25 per 1,000, or $2.50 per 100, or 2 1/2 cents each.
Powder is $18-$20 per pound.
7,000 grains in a pound, so if you use a 50 grain charge, you get 140 rounds per pound, or about .14 cents per round.

Looks like about .41 cents a shot, or $8.20 per box of 20 rounds.

You can probably do better by shopping around for best component prices in bulk.

If you Shop well and Look Hard you can get it down to 32 cents each. That is my cost . but I Buy Bulk

+1. That's exactly what I did about 5 years ago. Now, using surplus IMR4895 bought at $78 per 8# cannister, I can reload .30-06 for about $.15 each with pulled milsurp bullets or $.22 - $.28 each with match bullets.

I'm just below $0.50 per round, but I am stuck buying low-volume. I would be challenging to go much more than $0.55 per round, and it would be really hard to get all the way down to $0.30. Don above is going to be sad next time he has to re-stock.

I count tax, shipping, and haz-mat in my numbers where applicable.

If I bought bulk online I'd be closer to $0.40 per round.

Some of the numbers in previous posts are based on pre-component crisis prices I think, and some of my prices are based on purchases at the peak of the crisis at the most expensive store in town (rhymes with Grass-Go-Shops).

As you can see the cost is going to depend a lot on how much patience you have when you're shopping for good buys. At times you can make out real well, if you look around enough.

Since LC ammo is no longer available from CMP you might be able to sell it for $.75/round and use it to buy components for reloading the Greek. Almost every rifle I have shoots Greek better than LC, but for some reason LC is going for higher and I've actually seen people pay a buck a round for it.
Pulled bullets is the way to go if you shoot at 100 Unless you shoot a bedded match rifle you probably won't notice the difference.

this would work, you should be able to load upwards of 1100 rounds with that.

Using surplus M2 bullets my reload cost per round is 38.2 cents.

Using a Sierra or Hornady Match bullet the cost jumps to 43.8 cents/round.
