I am wondering if anyone has a pet load for the M1 Carbine using H110 or 292 or Lil-Gun behind a 110 rn bullet? I have about 300 to load and I only use it for paper targets. I also fire a Ruger Blackhawk SAA in 30 Carbine but is doesn't matter cause the only ammo I can fire in both the Carbine and Blackhawk are 110 gr. RN. Thanks. 74man

I believe Lil’Gun has become a banned topic on this site. Actually, I believe that’s only true for wheelguns. For rifles I don’t believe there’s an issue.

As for H110 using a 110 gr bullet: 14-15 gr.

I worked up to 14.5 Grains of H110, never went warmer as it was pretty consistent out of the old warhorse...no reason to punish it.
Hodgdon load data shows 14.0-15.0 grains for H110

15.0 grs. of H110/W296 and a Hornady 110 gr. FMJ is my go-to load for my .30 Carbines (10 of 'em) and I couldn't begin to count how many of this load I've fired. It duplicates the original load perfectly.

I don't know why anyone would think this load wouldn't work in the Ruger Blackhawk. The chamber walls are massively thick with this cartridge and pressures are similar to other cartridges chamber such as the .44 Magnum and .357 Maximum.

The M1 carbine is what it is. Don't want to hot rod it. Thr gun is built to a very narrow band of ammunition.

Just re-read all the posts and loads and didn't see anything that remotely resembled hot-rodding. Am I missing something?

Is the a vintage WWII Carbine or a reproduction?

As for the Blackhawk, it can take much stiffer rounds. The .30 Carbine Blackhawk is built like a tank.

Well for years it was a 110gr bullet with around 14grs of 2400, then 14.5gr of 296. Nowadays it's 9.5gr of AA-9.

I have both the rifle and the Blackhawk and they both shoot the same loads well. I also picked up a couple of really nice Accurate molds for the revolver in 115 and 125gr flat nose, and a HP mold as well.

I might load a little faster powder (a blue or up to 2400) in revolver loads. That would keep some heat off the forcing cone and shoot less fire out the end of the barrel.

And, stay with 296 in the carbine. LG does more with heavy pills but 296 is a smoother burn/push and does more with lighter bullets like used in the 30 carbine. LG will work a action harder at the same fps but at the same time it will top out before 296 with light weight bullets.

Since you mentioned cast bullets, some of the most accurate loads I've fired were gas-checked cast bullets from RCBS 30-115 and Lyman 311576 molds.

jski-- The M1 Carbine I have is a reproduction from Kahr Arms for Auto Ordinance, do you think it makes a difference wheather it is a New Reproduction or Original and why? If you say it is built like a tank, what load do you think would be just right for 25 to 50 yard target? I only shoot paper!!

I am running 14 grains of H110 under the 110 Grain Hornady FMJ. I have already tried AA#9 at 11.7 grains under the same round and it was underwhelming (to say the least).

RMR has a 110 grain FMJ for 13.5 cents per bullet for 1000. 12.75 cents each per 2000.
I recently purchased some, but haven't loaded them yet. Free Shipping.
Have others used these? Seem like good bullets.

I ordered I think 500 of these. They're actually made by Armscor but they shoot quite well.

I have a Kahr/Thompson Paratrooper carbine. I shoot the same load in it as my USGI carbines with the same result. If I remember correctly, it is 15 gr W296 and 110 gr RN bullet.

The paratrooper wire stock is brutal on the shoulder. But, I figured I could never afford a USGI carbine.
