I recently ran across a listing on Armslist for a "Commercial Mauser with (normal stuff) marked caliber.30 EU". Not that I'm in the market for another rifle, but what the heck is caliber.30 EU? I can't seem to find anything on it.
I would bet based on the French, Etats Unis- which would make double sense if Belgian produced. Estados Unidos, representing a plural, would be abbreviated EEUU.Only thing I could think of would be 'Estatos Unidas', or United States: the 30-06 was referred to in the early days as the .30 US. Maybe a rifle produced for the Spanish-speaking market? If it were an 8mm-'06, one would expect a marking of 8x63, not something with a decimal designation.
