So I just ordered 1000 147gn fmj-bt projectiles from surplus ammo (armscore) I was looking through my reloading manuals and couldn't find any info on these for 300 aac. I have the Speer
15th book, Hornady 10th book and Lyman 50th book and all of them have 150gr projectiles in there. Hornady and Lyman both offer a fmj-bt but Speer only has the gold dot and soft point projectiles to choose from. I hate assuming when it comes to reloading as I don't want to blow myself up, but would it be safe to use these data references for the 147gn?

I use H110 powder
WSR primers
Trim length of 1.365
Shooting out of a 8inch barrel with a 1:8 twist.

The Hornady book for 150gn fmj-bt calls for:
12.3gn-15.9gn of H110 with 15.9 being max load.

The Lyman book calls for:
14.5gn - 16.2gn of H110 with 16.2 being max load.

Both books are for the exact same projectile.

If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it.

Hornady data says to load 147-155gr bullets the same. So far I'm not dead and none of my rifles have blown up relying on that information and I load .30-06 as well as Blackout.

Three grains is really not that much of a difference, especially in a rifle.

Uses the 150gr data and as usual start low and work up to your desired velocity. The weight difference is only 2% and that is basically negligible in this context.

You do need to work up with your components and gun but the starting loads you listed from your manuals are pretty low. In LC formed cases with RP 7 1/2 primers and an oal at 2.130" to 2.140" with 147 FMJ's the maximum load listed for 150 grain bullets would be safe using 147 gr. M80 bullets. In my 16" carbine 16.5 grains of H110 with 147 FMJ's gives about 1970 fps in the 16" barrel with no issues. Just saying don't spend too many rounds at the low start charges but I think you'll find a good load from 15.0-16.5 grains of H110. Lyman's data is more realistic in my rifle and components used.

Using Hornady 150 FMJ's seated to 2.065" with H110 in LC cases an RP 7 1/2's 16.0 grains gives about 1935 fps in my 16" barrel. The 147 gr.M80 bullet has a longer more sharply pointed tip than does the Hornady 150 FMJ and the overall length should be a little longer. 2.065-2.075" versus 2.130-2.140" for the 147 gr FMJ. These lengths works fine in my bolt action and AR's.
