So I bought 500 rds. of reman in 300 BLK. Looking over the brass, it seems to be for the most part, 5.56 L.C., cut down and resized for the 300. With that, the annealed shoulders are gone.

My question; If I stick to just loading in subsonic, being that pressures run low. Is there any reason to anneal the shoulders for longevity of the casings?

TIA!

I don't anneal formed 300 BLK cases and case life is good. Like .223, the brass usually gets loose primer pockets before a split neck. Just don't move the shoulder back too much and case life will be good. If you run real low pressures that will keep primer pockets in great shape longer than 8 to 12+ firings, annealing may be prudent. Dunno.

My experience is about the same as Walkong's with 300 BLK.

I do not fool with subsonic loads but adjust my supersonic loads to give acceptable to me primer pocket life at more than four or five firings.

I have not had any issues with the necks with this case life.

Should be fine. Case life on 300 BO is pretty good actually, and I shoot some heavy supersonic loads. I have a bunch of LC cases that have seem heavy loads of LilGun and W296 with 110-150gr bullets. Not showing any primer pocket issues with 5 loadings on them. Sub's case life will be even better.

Thanks guys!

The only heat treatment I have ever done was a torch, usually with a rosebud tip on tool steel. Don't think brass would survive that. :D

I haven't annealed any of my 300 blk cases either and I have annealing machines that make it easy to be 100% consistent. Just haven't found a need to do them yet.
