I'm thinking about building a .300blk upper for my SBR reg. Lower. I really want the 11.5 a2 look but can't seem to find a barrel assembly like that in .300. Any help?
I don't know anyone making that but short barrels require a pistol length gas system, so the front sight would have to be a dummy like a Dissipator.
Also that barrel in the photo is a terrible design - it is thin near the rifle then get fatter - the opposite of what makes sense. Also the shoulder for the front sight/gas block is needlessly long - increasing weight and showing the lack of knowledge of the designer.
I know pistol gas is common for short 300 BLK barrels. Maybe go with a micro gas block & a clamp-on Armalite front sight base? Alpha Shooting Sports has 10.5" barrels with pistol length gas in melonite & stainless. You might have to shim a clamp-on with one of those...
