I am currently working up loads for my Weatherby Vanguard 2 300 win mag, 1/10 twist barrel, 26". My powders available are RL22 and IMR 7828SC. Bullets im working up are Hornady ELDX 200 and 220, and Nosler Accubind 200. My big concern now is overall length, wow this things got a lot of jump at book suggested length, but some guns prefer more jump sometimes. Anyone have any experience or suggestions? Just shot two loads of the accubonds at:
3.340 oal (book rating)
Vel 2877
RL22 71gr
SD 21
Not a good group
3.505 (.050 ,off lands)
RL22 70 gr
Vel 2900
SD 19
Not much better
15 minute cool down between shots
No signs of pressure

Those are the only powders I use in 300 mag. Also none of my rifles have a chamber short enough to seat to the lands at anything near a book OAL. They all shoot good though. My big thing with 300 mag is burning the barrel out looking for the perfect load so I just get a good hunting load around MOA (in all but one rifle) and use it but I hunt with my 300 mags rather than compete.

Yeah, mine measured. 848 difference from chamber to ogive on the book load.
