I have recently started reloading for my M-70 300 WSM and I can not load any where near the actual OAL for this Rifle I am hitting the lands at 2.792 has anyone had similar experiences?

You didn't mention your bullet choice, as different brands have varying ogive's which will cause the problem with COAL and touching the lands.
Most short action magazines require a 2.800 COAL, or shorter, to function.
You will need to get the proper COAL information for the bullet that your using, or pick a dimension off the lands by .010" or .020", or whatever you wish to use.
I try to use .020" when possible, if the bullet length allows it.
Remember that rifle load COAL is not etched in stone.

Thanks, Smitty at first i was using sierra 165 hpbt and had to chase them all over the place as far as bullet seating depth was concerned but to load safe i had to put too much bullet in the case. i have swapped to hornady interlocks and my bullet seating die was more or less set it and forget it. i was just amazed how far from published coal my loads actually are
but we fixed the part of error by building 2 little pieces that go in resized case one to find case length the other to find the lands.
