just got a tikka 300 wsm and i am trying to work some loads up for it and was curious if anyone has had any luck with a particular bulet or powder, if so i would love to hear about it
i am looking for accuracy in the 155 to 168 grain bullet area.
thank you
i also have a a bolt in a 300 wsm if anyone has any input for it
thanks again

rl-19 and 180 sierras are your tickets to extreme happiness and enjoyment.

if you really like 165's, then run rl-19 there, too. i really don't like 150's in the 30 cal - sacrifice integrity and bc's, especially in a case that holds that much powder.

enjoy the whizzum... its a pretty good cartridge.

I got the 300WSM BAR Stalker last year. I did a bunch of different loads. 150 gr Hornady SST Interlock with Varget was extremely accurate.

165 gr Hornady Interbond with Varget was good, as were 165 gr Nosler partitions.

I tried some rl19 as well as some H414.

I settled on some Barnes 165 gr TSX with H4831 for hunting.

I didn't mess with my BOSS as much as I should on all the bullets. For some reason those 150 gr Hornadys were spot on. Four rounds less than the size of a dime, one hole, from a rest at 100 yards.

One thing for sure with the semi autos you really need to bump the shoulder to get the cases to size to feed properly.

Our range is undergoing a massive remodel to get a 200 yard. I'll be shooting some more rifle when that gets done. Kind of fixated with 45ACP right now.

If you can get a hold of it, give Ramshot Hunter a try. I was designed for the Short Mags. I use it in my BAR and it gives me excellent groups with top velocities. Nothing else I tried even came close as far as velocity.

robctwo, How far are you bumping the shoulders back? I am in the process of rethinking the way I size for my BAR.

Thanks

.300 WSM loads

Chumsley--Nosler 165 grain Ballistic Tips and H-380 work well for me. The H-380 is really nice to meter, too.

I didn't have a set caliper on the cases. I do know that when I started reloading these I had some sticking. The folks over on shortmag forum were talking about setting the sizer die down so that there was some effort required to cam over. Not a lot of effort. I did and that solved the issue. By the way thanks for your help when i was starting out. If I can help more let me know.

My 30WSM is a Savage.
I found the best accuracy with 168 gr bullets using IMR-4350 @ 62.5 gr.
Chronos @ 2890+8 and shoots 0.3s from the bench.

I have a Tikka T3 in 300 WSM, and I tried 9 different powders and shot 350 rounds working up a load. I use the Hornady 165 grain Interbond because it was the most accurate and stayed together after being shot into wet newspaper.

The most consistent, most accurate, least temperature sensitive, and least fouling of all the powders was Reloder 19. Groups were the most accurate when the ambient temperature was 70 or below; groups opened up slightly when the temp was 90-100 degrees.

I used 4 different primers and Winchester large rifle magnum primers worked the best.

My fired brass measures .0008 smaller at the case head than fired factory ammo.

Using my chrony, my loads are exiting the 24 inch barrel at 3114 fps.

I am not listing the amount of powder I use because it will be different for your rifle. My buddy's A-bolt uses 3.3 grs. more in his rifle and his case heads are still smaller than fired factory ammo. Chamber sizes are just a little different for each gun.

You will love the 300 WSM, Have fun with it.
