Just posting up my 4 shot group from today after i got the scope mounted on my 300wby vangaurd. It was a christmas present from my g/f that she gave me early for this years black bear season.:D These are my last 4 shots (190gr hornady) after shooting 12 shots prior to this group with the intial site in and playing around. This was shot prone with the front rest being a rolled up tarp with a wby brass box between the tarp and stock for extra elevation, and no rear bag. Not the best rest to shoot from I know but i just wanted to get it close until i can make it to the range and shoot off my bipod or a bag. Shot from around 75yrds. The circle is 11/16"

Yeah 190gr hornady interlocks, wby brass, 215m primer and IMR 7828. That was my first attempted load for this rifle.

Not too bad for a first loading.
Your vertical string may indicate the heating up of the barrel, or not. You're burning a lot of powder in each load, and that creates a lot of heat in a hunting weight barrel.
If your targets in the future show this tendency, you may want to check the barrel to stock fit.

Nice grouping. Mine likes the 180 grainers better. I leave for Mt. Ida, Arkansas, tomorrow to find out what it will do to a whitetail. I'm zeroed for 300 yards. I've never shot game before with mine.

This is my first time ever shooting a wby mag. I have fired a few rounds with a 300 h&h before but never a wby. It was a last minute order. All of the 180grs i was interested in when i ordered my scope and dies were sold out so i went with the 190's. My stock is touching the whole barrel lenght, but i also was only allowing about 2 minutes between shots and around 5 or so minutes between the 3 or 4 shot groups. Except when i shot this group because we had to stop the bleeding from my dads magnum eye lol he shot one shot and the scope got him so it was a good 15 min until i went back and fired the 4 shots you see on the paper. I'll give it a shot again off of a real bench with a good bag or bipod instead of a tarp prone in the yard, it was a not very solid rest for that group. Either way i'm still happy with it as most of my shots are going to be 250yr or less.

I love the new rifle :) i have wanted one since i was 15 Its just taken me 12years to get one.

I have several 300 wby rifle and have come to love the caliber. Gotta watch for that scope eye when getting into some of these big wby cartridges.
