I need help picking a load .
gun : .308 model 10 Savage heavy barrel
bullet:220gr. noslar
primers:CCI
case: fed
I know this is a big bullet but I found this old box at old prices and I'll
be harvesting does and hogs proped up in doghouse about 100 yards from a corn feeder and about 200 yards from a sweet tater field .
What is the ft/lb energy of the loads listed below?
Can anybody fill in the blanks?

To heavy for 308. Won't stabilize. I loaded 3 rounds 220gr sierra and only one hit the target at 100 yards and keyholed at that. I don't know what twist you have in your rifle, and I don't know if it will make any differance, but a 220gr bullet defiantly dos'nt work with a 1 and 12 twist.
 
If you can get them to shoot well enough, they'll probably just sail on through deer without expanding too much. It depends at what velocity the jacket is designed to work.
They may work better on the larger hogs.

If you're going to shoot them in a .308, you need to get them up to speed, and most of the powders normally used for the .308 won't do it. Heavy bullets in a .308 require powders like N550 or RL17. With either of these powders, you should be able to break 2400fps and perhaps approach 2500fps. I am able to run 190SMK's at 2700fps in .308 with N550.
