I am checking the oal of a 178 amax in my savage 10. After making a dummy round I found that the bullet touches the lands at 2.194 measuring with my comperator. The oal is 2.821. When I seat them to 2.8 as manuels sugest I get 2.178 with my comperator. I checked some 175SMK and they measure 2.195 with the comperator at 2.8 oal. How is it that the amax's are touching the lands and the MK's aren't at the same measurement from the ogive to the base. I realize the oal would be different but the length to the ogive should be the same from diferent bullets. What am I missing?
