Just starting go get into reloading. Got a Lee press and some other goodies, but just looking for a good recepie for .308 WIN to throw out of a M1A with a national match barrel. Thanks in advance...

With 147 grain boat tail FMJs (Winchester pull down bullets) enough H4895 to get 2,550 fps out of my M1A works well. Any reloading manual should give you a recipe for that.

Loads in that velocity range operate the rifle well and are very accurate.

I've had good luck with Sierra's 168 gr. HPBT MatchKing and Varget powder. Although not as good as Varget in my loads, Reloder 15 and WW748 have given very good groups as well.
Have some fun and experiment a little.

168 SMK over 41.5 gr IMR or H4895, CCI BR-2 primer, LC case, loaded to 2.80". It WILL shoot great from your M1A. Good shootin`!

My pet load in my M1A is the Hornady 168 BTHP in GI cases, 46.4 gr H380. Shoots .75" groups @ 100 yd and I can't see worth a darn.

What Fatelvis said... except I use Win primers because I'm cheap and CCI ticked me off one too many times.

In my Savage 10FP

I do 43.9 grains of Varget with Winchester primers pushing a 168 grain Nosler J4 at 2760 fps at 95 degrees F.

Half-inch at 100 yards in slightly gusty winds.
