There is a possibility of being able to pick up another rifle - this time in .308. I have owned two .308s in the past , both 26" Remingtons - a 700VS and later a 700P. This time I thought I might try a something with a shorter barrel like the 700LTR with a 20" barrel:

Seems like $800 is the price I see online.

Or possibly the 24" Savage 10FP HS Precision:

About $675 is the average I have seen.

I have one LTR now but in .223. Not sure how the recoil would be with a .308 in the little LTR. Also own one Savage 12BVSS , again a .223

Just wondering what kind of experiences anyone might have with either the LTR or 10FP HS in .308.

i have shot a savage model 10fp alot, it isn't mine but i have a lot of experience with it, in .308 as a matter of fact and that rifle is a great value, i think they are the sweetest thing going for the money. i love the accu trigger, and the rifle all around is a smooth working, smooth shooting gun. I like them alot and they are accurate to boot what more could you ask for in a rifle. put it this way I have seen people that shoot porely with most weapons shoot better than normal when using the savage, even people that are so-so shots can hold 2" at 200yds. i like em, and very glad that someone finally too notice and made the trigger adjustable by the shooter, to customize it to their liking, without any trouble, the savage is a winner in my book!

10fp best bet for the money.... I have one, .3-.4inch groups with good ammo
it rocks!
