Today at range, whatever this is ISNT limp wristing. I have eliminated the mag, as I finally had it happen with the Glock 21 mag. It happened 2 times in 250 rounds. Once was a 185 grain X-treme FP at 1.21 Oal and a fairly stiff load of No. 2 and the other was a RN 230 grain with 6.1 grains Unique....both these bullets fairly stiff loads.

Both times it happened, I carefully released the mag, and both times the bullet was still attached to the mag, pointing up towards the chamber. They were both poking up out of the top of the mag when I removed it. Two different mags, one standard 10 round that came with the gun, another a Glock 21 mag.

I will change the extractor and the recoil spring to see if that fixes it, may try a KKM barrel (plus I want a threaded barrel) they are said to be a little better on the feed ramp. If the extractor and spring dont stop it, and the barrel does, back to Glock it goes. I neither fix it, back it goes.

Any thoughts on this type of FTF with bullet sticking up out of the magazine?

I WILL get to the bottom of it:mad:

i have both of your threads. Maybe i missed it but have you shot factory made ammunition and what were the results?
No, this was a 4 lane range at the Bass Pro and by the time I had gone through 250 rounds, I wanted to give someone else a chance. Tomorrow or thursday I will buy a couple hundred rounds of some factory stuff and go through that. Others have shown up to 5.7 with FMJ. While those are max loads, still. 5.1 shot fine in this gun

The rounds I fired today were pretty stiff except the 4.7 Bullseye rounds, they didnt feel very strong. Several knowledgeable members thought my 5 and 5.1 grain loads were "hot". Hornady, as conservative as they are shows up to 5.5 for 230 grain lead bullets.

What is it that you suspect hand loads are doing that may cause this? I had one younger reloader telling me he had a similar problem, and something about his sizing die wasnt set right. I have put a micrometer to them (the bullets) on every dimension without finding anything standing out. Any help appreciated. I am ordering the new recoil spring and extractor tomorrow.

I did notice that today, both FTF occurred earlier on, and the majority of the round went smoothly. I have disassembled all the mags and cleaned them as well. Slowly but surely I will eliminate what I can. While a little extreme, I have even thought of buying another one to see if it does it! One range I have rents them, but no reloads, only factory. Before I try that, I want to run factory ammo through my gun.

Im not sure what would cause the bullet not to be stripped out of the magazine and be left hanging out of it, angled towards the chamber. Is the slide not cycling all the way back? Loads are stout enough to cycle it well, so maybe recoil spring defective? Extractor not getting empty out of the way in time? What else is left?
