Do any of you remember or maybe even own a stevens 311A side by side shotgun? My brother got both of the 311As that Dad had. One in 12, and the other in 20 gauge. I remember seeing my Dad shooting clays and winning with this old side by side and out shooting guys that had shotguns costing thousands of dollars. Not bad for a gun that cost around $100 dollars new. Dad was finally told that he could not use the 311A any more because it was to old a gun. This thing still shoots as good today as it did new, hope to find one for myself soon.

311s were made for a long time by Savage, and were tough, affordable and well regarded. Some had sear and hammer springs that didn't hold up well, but were replaceable. IMO, good shotguns.

I have two 20ga 311A's, along with four 12ga 311H's, a 16ga 311H, a 20ga 311-tenite, and a 12ga 311E. So I guess you could say the 311 is my favorite shotgun. The most I've ever paid for any of them was the 311E, $310+tax. I wouldn't part with any of them. I know that most guys have spent more on their one shotgun than I have on my whole collection, but where's the fun in having just one.

Truth is they were probably tired of getting their butts whipped . What idiots.

There's a guy at our club who shoots an old L.C. Smith. He's taught more than one shooting lesson to guys who make remarks about his "old gun."

It has taken afew deer ducks birds cans clays and rats, of course it doesnt look like a premier grade winny but its a great gun. tell your father to keep shooting unless there is something mech wrong with the gun.
