I was at the local gun store last week and I was shown a pair of antique double actions. The first was a S&W in 32Long and the second was a Colt in 32/20. The owner said he would sell both of them for $350. I think it is a good deal but who makes 32/20 ammo anymore and where can I get it?

The online sources may be a little cheaper (Midway, Graf & Sons, etc) but .32-20 factory ammo is expensive, I paid less than $25.00 for a set of dies, factory R-P was going for $37.00 a box. If you are going to any amount of shooting with this caliber reloading is the way to go.

$350 sounds like a great score, assuming the revolvers are in decent shape.

I think 32-20 comes in two flavors. High velocity (for rifle) and regular stuff for handguns. I'd avoid using the high-power loads in those old guns.

Cabela's carries the stuff --min. 25 clams for 50. A couple places online, but it's really a load yourself thing these days. Great cartridge though --like the 38-40's little brother. Good stuff.

The current factory offerings tend to run toward the sedate pressures favored by the CAS folks.

The original 100grain@1500+ for rifle isn't likely to be found..If it is, most likely it'll a couple, or three, decades old.

It isn't History yet, but like other original BP loads, the commercial factories aren't likely to produce loads that equal smokless pressures in guns that may be used in BP guns.

I have a 32.20 Mdl '92 (smokeless), but have not been able to find any factory ammunition that is the equal to the offerings of the 60s.

The newer stuff though is quiet in a locked breech rifle. You can snipe at crows w/o the neighbors getting upset.

Trajectory isn't much different than a thrown baseballl. Slight exaggeration, but you get the idea.

salty.

I inherited my grandmother's S&W 1st Model Hand Ejector. It is 32 Win Ctg. Learned that is .32-20. Bought a box after much searching for about $28. It was a little hard to find.
