I'm picking up an old Remington pump rifle from my uncle this weekend ,and its in 32 remington Cal. What can you tell me about, and ?Can you still get brass and reloading info about it?
Thanks -1Longbow

It was Remington's answer to the .32 Winchester Special. You can use .32 Spl. loading dies to reload the .32 Remington.

Ballistically very close to the .32 Spl., which is very close to the .30-30.

Moderately popular for some years, but I don't think anyone makes ammo anymore.

I still see it for sale at gunshows occasionally. Any bullet for the .32 Spl. will work in the .32 Remington.

.30 Remington brass is more commonly available, which is good because you can very simply either fire form or neck expand the .30 Rem. brass and have perfectly good .32 Remington brass.

Fun rifles, good rifles. Have fun.

re..32 Rem

Longbow:

If you have been on some the other shooters.com or 24Hr. campfire you would have noticed that I have been chasing loads for this caliber.

I have owned mine for almost a year and have had more sucsess then I would dreamed possible. There has been no ammo made since sometime in the sixties.Believe it or not in the course of a year I have been able to get over a hundred rounds of loaded ammo and a little more brass. You can also .30Rem brass and open up .002 to load in the .32 bullet.

The gun uses the same loading specs as the .32 Winchester. I got my dies from RCBS. They still stock them. The only bullet available is the 170 gr. and there are lots of them around.

Lyman used to make two casting molds:

164 gr.bullet #321317 (#2 alloy)

184gr. bullet # 231297 (#2 alloy )

Max. Case lenght 2.050
Trim to 2.045
Max. overall lenght (with bullet) 2.525

If you have any more questions, fell free to yell at me.

.32 Brass

I have some of both in my 50 year collection but it is buried somewhere. Send me your e address and when I run across it I will let you know.

If I remember correctly the .32 calibers were sold mainly in the eastern states with denser brush when hunting so the .32s were marketed as "Brush Busting" calibers.

.32 Remington

Are you sure you can load a .32 Rem. On a .32 Win. Spec. on the same dies? The Winchester has a rim like a 30-30. I have them both. i just don't see how.

I've heard two stories on using the 32 special dies on 32 remington, one says it works the other says it doesn't. I bought a model 8 in 32 remington last year and was lucky enough to find a set of 32 remington dies on auctionarms for a small fortune. My father formed the 32 remington brass from the 30 remington and we loaded them with 170 grain flat points. I got a good shot at a small buck with it this fall and dropped it with the first shot. The bullet performed excellently with good penetration and lots of damage so I can speak well of the effectiveness of the 32 remington, their good rifles and well worth the trouble to reload for. Have fun.

Hey Guys:
Just for the record , I don't beleive you can or should intermix the two .32 calibers.

The 32 Rem. is a rimmless case while the .32 Win . is rimmed.

OAL- 2.562 2.565
case Length -2.050 2.040
Base-.4207 .4219

The big difference is in the shoulder angle.

.32 Rem.-23 degrees
.32 Win. - 14 degrees

As I said before RCBS has lots of dies in stock.
