I have heard that you can neck up 30-30 brass by using 32 Winchester Special resizing dies and it will work in the 32 fine. Has anyone done this and if so, exactly what was your process?
I have a 1949 Winchester in 32 Win Spl and will be reloading for it. Brass is scarce...so this would be great if it works.

Thanks,

Dave

I love my Win94 in 32WS. But youre right...brass can be hard to come by. So I started resizing 30-30 brass long ago. Works fine for me. I run all my 30-30 brass through my Marlin once and then just ran it thru the sizer die. I think there is a .001 or .002 difference in length but it doesn't seem to affect my rifle's accuracy enough to make an iota of difference. I have heard that crimping can be problematic...but I've never had any issue.

Be sure to keep your newly sized brass in properly marked containers after you size them though...you really don't want to get your 30-30 sized brass mixed up in 32WS-sized brass.

Third Generation has 32 Special brass in stock right now. Winchester brand. Get you some and you won't have to worry about using it in the wrong rifle! They show 31 bags in stock.

Brass To Go in washington has found me a bunch of used 32 special brass. I've bought a couple hundred from them and all were good usuable brass for a fair price. I like to keep the headstamps right for the caliber so there's no mistakes.

.32 Special caliber reloading is not that popular. So, the brass
always seems to be around. Try the various brass sources as
the guys above mentioned. I'm sure you won't have to mess
around resizing 30/30 stuff.

30/30 brass is all I use in my Win 94 32 spl. It works great is cheap and plentiful and I don't own a 30/30 so I don't worry about feeding real 30/30 fodder in my 32 spl.
I shoot cast bullets and the 32 spl. and cast are made for each other.
Keeps costs down to.
Doc.
