34gr hp in 223?

Midsouth has some Varmint Nightmare 34gr hp bullets for a great price and I wondered if anybody here has some experience with them?
I was thinking of trying them in my Contender.

I've never went below 50gr in my 223's the bullet that has given me superb
accuracy is the Sierra 52gr match.

40 grain hp's group the best in my Thompson Contender using faster powders than normal, but I thought of trying these bullets.

Wow, that's awfully light.
I'm not sure what sort of application you'd use them in.
Maybe if the only thing you do is target practice.

Someone much smarter than me will be respond shortly about barrel twist rate & the ability to stabilize bullets.

I wasn't expecting much but they shot surprisingly well out of a 1:8 and 1:9 twist AR platforms.

i use a 35gr v max with 5 gr of clays powder and a federal sr primer and get around 2200 fps with no noise.. pretty accurate out to 150..

Wow broken line, I never even thought of a fast handgun powder for these but one sure must be careful doing so I bet.
I'm going to try H322, IMR4198 and maybe some AA4100 because I have them.
Common 223 powders will have too much flash and boom I feel out of my short barreled Contender.
These Varmint Nightmare bullets are the same as the Midway Dogtown bullets........all made by Nosler I have read.

Most ( if not all ) of the dogtown bullet line is factory seconds or "other" from various manufacturers.

Larry got his start breaking down milsurp bulk and factory seconds, and reselling them in commercial friendly sizes.... This tradition continues under Dogtown Bullets

You can load a Hornady 35gr V max and it will chrono at 3700fps. I think at that speed it is really hard on the barrel granted barrels are fairly cheap

I wish someone who had a Quckload program would calculate for me and PM me the results........... in a 223 case with a 34gr bullet how much Bullseye powder I would need to get to 40k and 50k psi.

Bullseye is a fast powder but very stable and does not pressure spike like Clays does.

Actually since the pressure is the same, the velocity isn't going to make a difference with the barrel life.

The 34gn dogtowns are meant for the .22 Hornet. They'd be great for light loads from a .223 but I wouldn't try to push them super hard for fear that they would fail in flight.

the twist in T/C is 1-14 40 45 grain will work fine,, keep the speed down, and you won.t have any problems,,,

I've tried them in my Savage 12 FTR with Trail Boss for giggles. With the 1:7 barrel, they group under 1/2" at 100 yards, about one inch low from my normal loads. They seem to be on par noise wise with a CCI Stinger.
