I live in Iowa where the 350 legend is legal to hunt with this along with the reloading potential of the cartridge pulled me in so I picked up a Ruger American figuring the subsonic bolt action with a 250gr+ .35 caliber bullet would be the cats meow. I am primarily a shooter more than hunter.

Well Winchester is still dragging their feet getting their published 265gr subsonic factory load to market and other than YouTube nobody seems to be publishing subsonic load data.

I have 170gr interlock hornady bullets for reloading standard hunting/shooting loads and there is published data for that.

Has anybody played with this? I am thinking about trying the Speer Cor-loc bullets in 220 and 250gr weights. I don't plan to hunt with subsonic ammo at this time, just target shooting.

Find a pistol powder load and work backwards down. Unique, and tightgroup are both good for reduced loads.

I had good luck with up a subsonic loads for 450 Bushmaster using Vihtavuori Tin Star. It might work in 350 Legend to.

Vintavuori Tin Star looks interesting, almost like Trail Boss but actually meters well.

I was hopeing to start with actual 350 legend data or proven loads. While I have reloaded for years I have rarely ventured outside of published loads.

350 legend being so new it appears few have tried to reload and even fewer are discussing it.

Tin Star is very similar to Trailboss but denser and does meter better. I had started with Trailboss but couldn't get enough in the case to get much above 900 fps with the 405gr bullet I was using.

Well I finally made it to the range with some hand loads and my chronograph. All group sizes at 3 shot groups from sand bag front rest no rear rest. I have a 1x4 power banner scope on my Ruger American Ranch with 16" barrel. The 180gr XTP group was shot with a Silencerco Hybrid attached. The banner scope is really a shotgun scope with thick cross hairs.

I checked my first attempt at subsonic 180gr XTP in the 350 legend. I resized these to 0.356 for this test. Trail Boss is the only powder I had on hand that I felt comfortable testing. Using an OAL of 2.195 with Hornady brass. I started with 7.0 gr Trail Boss about 80% case fill. Avg. velocity was 816fps with extreme spread of 111fps. Accuracy was very poor @ 2.2" 50 yards.

I will up the powder charge to 7.8gr about 90% case fill and see how accuracy looks. I will look for TinStar as well but need to get idea where to start first.

I then tried 170gr Hornady Interlock bullets, these did much better. I used H110 with an OAL of 2.225", all I had was federal AR small rifle primers so that is what I used, winchester brass.

25gr H110 - around 2100 to 2200fps, I accidentally deleted the data from my chronograph. Accuracy was okay with a 3 shot group of 0.88" @ 50 yards.

25.5gr H110 - Avg. 2218fps, ES 100fps, 1.28" group @ 50 yards (2 touching 1 flyer)

26gr H110 - Avg. 2223fps, ES 71.4fps, 0.62" group @ 50 yes (cluster group)

26.5gr H110 - Avg. 2339fps, ES 118fps, 0.60" group @ 50 yds ( vertical group).

I plan to work with this bullet some more in the 26gr range to see how 5 and 10 shot groups look. I flattened the primers when seating them, as I didn't ream the primer pockets enough, winchester crimps there primers for some reason.

Winchester White Box 145gr FP - 2153fps, ES 51.8fps, 0.86" group at 50yds (kind of a vertical group)
