350 Legend Reloading

I haven’t ventured into any AR-15 calibers larger than 223. How is the 350 Legend in terms of reloading? Can regular 9mm bullets be used (FMJ)? Can it be reloaded relatively cheaply? I’ve also considered the 300 BO but that seems like a specific use cartridge to me, ie subsonic suppressed applications.

The 300blk is bad medicine for hogs well over 200 yards out when flinging 125/gr bullets.
My buddy has dropped them at over 300.

I like running mine with sub's and a suppressor, keeping it within 100 yards.

The cool thing about the 300blk, is that it runs super & sub, suppressed and un-suppressed with ZERO mod's required during the change over process.
(16" Barrel with Carbine Length Gas)

The only thing you have to do is remember the dope for what you are chambering.

The 350 legend is a completely different animal.

I can't speak for the cost of reloading the 350.

If shooting suppressed sub's isn't what you are after, then I'd be looking deeper into the 350.

That’s what I was thinking. I suppose the supersonic selection of 300 BO is pretty effective. I just figured it was a secondary use.

350 LGND [can] use 9mm. It will also take (and I recommend] the SPEER 180 Hot Cor sized to .356
Pay attention to trim length
Stay away from LilGun

apart from Norma200 (unobtanium right now).....
RL-7 is cat's meow.

@MEHavey

why would you recommend against lil gun it’s a favorite of mine for the legend?

It's easy to reload. I'm running 147gr XTP blems from Midway they're very accurate. I think they'd be very effective for light skinned game.

I’m really just kicking tires. It would be nice if it would share some components with what I already have, like projectiles and maybe some magnum pistol powders.

I built an AR in 350 Legend. I tried to use pistol bullets, but they didn't feed worth a flip. I ground and polished the feed ramps and it helped quite a bit, but not enough for my liking. Then I tried the Hornady 170 grain soft point and they fed perfectly. Accuracy was very good too. I am using W296/H110. Good Luck.

For real nostalgia a 45-70 seems appropriate but they eat so much powder and lead. 350 legend or 300 BO appear more economical, if there is anything economical in this equation.

Qualifier: If you're running an AR... stay away from Lil`Gun.
See https://thefiringline.com/forums/showpost.php?p=6764008&postcount=93

Many many others have experience/reported the same thing (if not worse) ...
And having done quite a bit of soul searching I now believe it's an unlocking/extraction/timing issue.
Bolt guns... not so much

for my recommending Winchester cases

not to be that guy but I’ve never had an issue with my ar in 350 legend using lil gun ymmv

Having had this happen once, I chalked it up to chance.
Twice.... it was a pattern.
3rd time was actual base failure (another shooter). :what:
That was enough Lil`Gun (in a AR) for me. :fire:

Is there not enough pressure drop causing problems.... seems like blue dot might have the same issue?

A really nice bullet would be HDY's 147 gr. XTP-FP, from their Custom .357SIG loading, but it is not a catalog offering.
