go with the stoegar. it is incredible value for money and points very well. is very accurate and easy to maintain as well. we have two and have put 500+ rounds through with no issyes at all.

finally if you want to convert the regular one to DAO only its a simple job to do.

Ditto Phil... Didn't think about it... just got a NIB S&W 5906 from CDNN for $399, but they have 'VG-to EX' slightly used for $299-319... and they are in 'mint' condition!
Have put about 500-rnds thru mine... great shoot, all metal, heavy-gun feel, very accurate, heard they outlive their owners!!! An excellent buy for way under $400, if you like that 'all-metal' feel.

i might have found an excellent choice, waiting for my FFL to give me a call this evening to see if its a go, but ill let you guys know if it pans out.

But i will look into the options mentioned so far! thanks and keep the suggestions comming!

The CZ75 series might be good guns (trigger isn't a good fit for me out of the box), but you're not getting a new one that wasn't stolen for under $450, EXCEPT for the CZ40s, which are pretty cheap at CDNN. Of course that's not the 9x19mm you want.

If you don't mind Glock, used police guns are almost always available at Summit Gun Broker for very reasonable prices. I got an ex-VA Beach Sheriff's Dept. Glock 19 from them and was VERY satisfied. If you can find a reasonable FFL, they should be within or very close to your price specification.

The SIG P6s are also a good deal, especially from CDNN and similar distributors.

Somehow the STOEGER has a 'fuller'/heavier feel in your hand, weighs about 8 oz. more (all metal) and has a handle/grip which is longer. For ME, both guns feel great and shoot great... but I'm ALWAYS more partial to all-metal guns!
As I said before, they're BOTH great shoots and great values (and to date, FLAWLESS), and you wouldn't go wrong choosing either!... It really boils-down to YOU, which looks better, feels better in your hand, which trigger-pull is 'better', and which do you enjoy shooting!

Oh no, I actually had a line on a CZ 75B Tactical for $414 out the door... and I put it off for an FNP9-m and two 40Bs. Oh well, maybe next time...

as a resident of Columbia, you should get an FNP-9 out of Hometown Pride.

I don't what they say on the slide, but they are indeed made in Columbia, SC.

They do say they are made in Columbia SC I believe. I will check mine later, but I am almost positive that they say exactly where they come from on the front right side the slide, in small little letters so they don't ugly it up any more than they have to.

Adder for Cougar . . . .

Well your question got me off my keister and to the range tonight. I took my Cougar .40 S&W and my FNP40 DASA. Principally I shot the Cougar as it needed exercising due to it's lethargic residence in the console of my F150 as my truck gun. Mags needed cycling and overall needed a shooting and cleaning so it feels needed and loved. I made a concerted effort to see what I could get out of it with 165 gr WWB, 155 gr. PMC Starfire, and 135 gr. Federal Hydrashok. At 15 yards I was able to make one ragged hole with 20 rounds expended with the PMC in the head score designator with a 2 1/4" spread firing at a fairly rapid rate. Encouraged, I moved on to the Federal. Due to the light bullett weight and velocity the weapon shot a 1 3/4" group, again at 15 yards from a Weaver stance. Firing the 165 gr. WWB FMJ at 25 yards, 15 yards and 10 yards respectively I kept all rounds in the center of mass 5X ring with no trouble. The Cougar is the best $325.00 I've ever spent. The FN shot well and I am very happy with it. I bought mine for $435.00 with three mags and sent off for the shooter's pack which I have received and use. Still try and see if you can rent or borrow a Cougar and try it. I think if it fits your hand and you are comfortable with it, you will like the weapon for a long time to come. Good Luck.

check summit gunbroker

used GLOCK

The OP wants a decocker or a double action only. I had a glock 23. I don't know what they are officially designated as but I personally would not call it a double action. I actually got rid of mine because I did not feel like it was safe to carry a round in the chamber.

9mm
reliable
ambidextrous as possible (im a lefty)
prefer decocker da/sa but will consider dao
simple takedown and cleaning
12+ capacity

OP will consider DAO

GLOCK is perfectly safe to carry with one in the chamber AS LONG as trigger is PROPERLY covered by Holster.

GLOCK is considered DAO

The SW6906 is the same size as the single stack 3913. I had a KTP32 a while back, and I believe the 6906 would be a bit larger than the KT, but it is a compact, and love the way it feels in the hand.

I have a couple of "Grip +2's" ordered from S&W, and I just ordered a NIB 5906 from CDNN earlier today, along w/2 extra factory mags.

When the new mags and "Grip+2's" get here I plan to use one of the 5906 mags w/grip+2 to give me one mag. for the 6906 with a capacity of 15+1.

If you ever have the chance try and hold a 6906, it's a perfect size and a fun shooter. Lots of pistol, imo, for $400.

Best Wishes,

Jesse

Hey guys, im buying a like new in box stoeger cougar 9mm from a THR forum member for 335 shipped.

Thanks for all of the suggestions, I'm wishing i had more to spend so i could buy two guns right now.

buy a military CZ vz 82 in 9mm Makarov and pocket the $100 change. Great rliable, well made little guns for about $240 including shipping and transfer fee.

Used to have a Beretta Cougar before the design/manufacture went to Stoeger. Its a solid gun. Can't speak to CZ's.

A lot of people wouldn't consider 9x18mm in a blowback firearm adequate. Count me among them.

Unless concealment was of the utmost importance, I wouldn't touch anything less powerful than 9x19mm in a locked breech firearm that could handle the hottest safe loads.

Good choice on the Stoeger!!! I would have bought one by now, but it's not on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale in CA:cuss:
