I have 200 RUAG 158grn 357 magnum FMJFN bullets. These bullets do not have a crimping groove, can I still roll crimp these bullets?,and will the crimp have any adverse affect on pressures?.
I usually back off the crimp die a bit so it gives more of a good solid taper crimp, thus not biting into the bullet.Never had one shift in medium power loads.
If you keep the loads fairly light, you shouldn't have a problem with them jumping the case mouth. But I wouldn't recommend loading anything to robust though.
Your good with a very slight roll crimp but much more & it`ll cut the platingwhich is thin compared to a real jacketed bullet . Also if pushedmuch over 1k the plating will give up completely !The brand I had the plating was running around .003-.007"
When I tried plated bullets I pushed em too hard & had shreds of plating in the bore , but I was lookin after every shot !
