I've done some reading on line, and various people have mentioned using a .40 S&W resizing die before a .357 sig die. Does anyone do this and if so, do you leave the expander/decap pin in the .40 or the .357 sig? From everything I've read this allows resizing without having to lube (assuming a carbide .40 S&W die).

Thanks in advance,

I leave the decapping pin in the 40S&W die, but I use Lee dies that do not have an expanding ball on the decapper pin.

I run my 357 SIG brass through a Redding G-Rx 40 S&W die to remove any "glocking" that may have been, then I run it through the regular 357 SIG sizer die with the expander/deprimer stem installed. So I would take the deprime stem out of the 40 S&W Carbide die and then run them through the 357 SIG sizer die with the expander/deprimer stem in it. I do spray lube in a gallon zip loc bag and chunk in the tumbler to remove the lube afterwards.

I use the Lee Carbide 40S&W sizing die with no lube, then the Lee steel 357SIG die set to reshape the shoulder area and decap the primer. I chose to charge the casings using a RCBS Uniflow because the Lee Pro Auto Disk Powder Measure didn't like very fine Accurate Arms #9 powder. After the charge, I seat and crimp with the other 2 Lee steel dies. I am well satisfied with this arrangement on my Lee Classic Turret Press.

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to try it out with the decaper in both and see how it goes.

Never thought or heard of that! Great idea. Now, I just need to get a .357 Sig again to go with all that brass.:scrutiny:
