I just came across this and thought it interesting enough to share. Apparently the military uses some kind of un-Holy frankencartridge produced by mating a .22 Hornet with a .358 Winchester. It is the MK217 spotting cartridge for a SMAW. Apparently it is basically a .358 Winchester with a .22 Hornet stuck inside it. Sounds strange huh? This link has a neat cut-away.

I'm sure some people are familiar with it and some have probably even shot it, but it is new to me and pretty interesting in design. Apparently the .22 Hornet and .358 Winchester both know what they're doing is immoral and wrong as they try to separate on firing.

My brother in law was a SMAW gunner in the Corps. He always said it was a 7.62 necked up to 9mm. I'll have to show him this link.
