I have a chance to buy a few boxes of this bullet, Berry's plated .38 Cal 148gr DEWC, I have shot some factory loads with this but looking for some load data for the plated bullets.

I would be using .357 brass, and Berrys says: attain 800 fps as a minimum.

any help to be had?

Thanks RC

In my 4" M-19 I used 6.0gr of Unique and 357 cases, lightly crimped with 1/8" or so of the bullet out of the case. Snappier than a standard 38 spl load but very accurate.

With the Berrys 148 Gr WC in .357 brass loaded at 1.380 3.8 Grs of Competition or 4.0 Grs of WST 0r 4.1 Grs Solo 1000 or 3.8 Grs Clays will get you about 750 FPS from a 4" barrel. It will be safe and both powders at this level with this bullet are very position insensitive.

You do not need 800 FPS minimum, but you do need loads that are not very position sensitive as to guarantee you get at least 650+ FPS. These loads will do that. If you have a very large cylinder gap, be extra careful, as velocities may drop too much.

These loads are safe in my guns using my load technique. Use at your own risk.
