I just bought my first I-frame. It's a pre-war S&W pre-Model 33 Regulation Police in .38 S&W. I need a source for the .360" diameter bullets needed for this round.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Try the search feature in the green bar at the top of the screen. This has come up before and several sources were mentioned.

Thanks for the tip. I tried it before posting this thread with a number of different terms - for example .360 bullets, .359 bullets, 38 AND S&W AND Bullets, 38 regulation, 38 Regulation police. I either got inappropriate results, 50 pages of results (because "38" is too short and therefore ignored, leaving only S&W) or the following response (which was no help):
1. Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

In lieu of source recommendations, can somebody recommend an appropriate search term?

Western sells some. I think they are about the only ones out there that do. Most people just use .358 bullets, and usually get acceptable accuracy. The 35864 bullet that Western sells is a replica of the classic 38 S&W bullet shape with the long round nose, usefull for the short 38 S&W case. However he sells it sized to 358. But he also has a 360 bullet as well, however the shape is not the classic one. I have never bought from him so am not recommending him. Just letting you know.

Remington manufactured at one time a150 gr. HBRN bullet in 0.358" diameter which was supposedly for the 38 S&W> I still have about 5 boxes of these. Rem #B22852.

.360 dia 38 S& W

I ordered and received .360 bullets from Western Bullet Co.

With shipping was $16 for 100

Got the info here on this forum along with a lot of other information.

I believe I have exactly the same revolver as you have.... an S&W .38 Reg Police mdl 33.... I use 'cowboy .38 S&W', NOT S&W Spl, ~ 158gr w/no probs..... I get the ammo at a local re-loader for $13.50 per 50 rounds.... will look into Western Bullet for $16/100...

For what it's worth--I have a K-frame Model 38-200, the "Lend-Lease" version of the .38 S&W. .357" bullets keyhole; .358" and .359" shoot very well.

You can get .358" from Kempf's Gun Shop. A buddy made the .359" for me from a Lyman mold and .359" sizing lube ring.

The .358" are 158 gr. FN and .359" are 146 gr SWC--either one over 2.2 grains of Win 231. I use Lee carbide dies.

These are fun guns to own and shoot.

I think you may find that you will need lead bullets to be a good bit larger than .360" and softer than most commercial cast.
