Does anybody have a recipe for 38spl DEWC (148gr) using Accurate #2, The Accurate website has an entry for WC DBB (double ended bevel base wadcutters). The min is 2.6 and the max is 2.9 for WC DBB. I've seen other websites that show 3.2 as the min and 3.5 max for DEWC's using AA#2 but that seems a little high considering Alliant suggests a min of 2.7 Bullseye foe DEWC

Loads for all 148gn solid wadcutters are the same. Only the HBWC must be restricted in velocity.
Generally, the loads shown should be in the 725-800fps range, but can be higher--for solid wadcutters ONLY.
There is no difference in DEWCBB and DEWC.
Somewhere around 2.8-3.2gn will most likely be the most accurate.
For revolver, keep 0.1-0.25 of the bullet outside the case.

I load the Missouri Bullet 148gr DEWC over 2.9gr of AA#2. This round perfectly duplicates the point of impact and the feel of the Winchester match 148gr WC ammo in my 686 bullseye gun.

I loaded some 38spl DEWC's with 2.9 gr of AA#2 and was surprised at how light it was considering 2.9 is the high end of the range suggested by AA (2.6 --> 2.9). I even upped it to 3.0 and it was still very light.

the 2.9gr load is a very light load IMO too. I do like it though, it shoots to POA of the Winchester match ammo and is very accurate with the Missouri Bullet 148DEWC.

3.3 Grs AA #2 with a Berrys 148 Gr DEWC loaded in .38 Spl brass at 1.185 OAL gave me around 675/700 FPS from a 4" Model 10. It took more than that to get 700 FPS in .357 cases.

It will take less powder with lead to get 700 FPS.

That sounds about right, considering the plated bullet taking a slightly higher charge to get similar velocity. I find great accuracy out of the 2.9gr load, but couldnt imagine even loading any lower. To be honest, I didnt when I worked that one up. It was one of those loads that I loaded the published max because I know others that do, and shot thier loads, and have a lot of familiarity with AA#2.
