I was given about 1000 .38 Super reloads and about another 1000 brass from one of my best friend's widow. I don't have a .38 Super. His was sold before he was killed in an accident, but not all his supplies.

Brownells carry 1911 barrels in 38 Super that will swap with a .45 barrel, they also have magazine adapters than say it will convert standard 1911 mags to fit 38 Super cartridges. Does this mean I can take my 1911 and swap barrels and refit some mags and shoot these reloads.???

I also have dies, bullets, and everything else I need to get set up for shooting this cartridge. Is the above all I need to do, is it this simple??

Nope. There are other issues as weel, like type of cut, breech face, etc.

.38 super uses a 9mm slide. The ejector on a .45 may or may not clear a 9mm slide.
I have built switch top guns, and the cost is darn near the same as buying a new gun when you add up barre, slide, firing pin, firing pin stop, slide stop, extractor, ejector work, slide and barrel fitting, etc.

Thanks for the answers guys, I was hoping it would be a simple matter to swap things around, but I do see the points in extraction and ejection. I thought I would have to drop in a lighter recoil spring as well, but guess I won't be shooting them any time soon.
