.38 Wadcutter Loads...Mistake?

Revolver recoil pulls the bullets out of the case.
The gun holds the case tightly and the bullet tends to stay in place and moves out of the case.

Auto pistol recoil tends to drive them deeper.
The case is NOT held tightly in most auto magazines, so the inside front of the mag slams into the bullet during recoil, forcing them deeper.
Chambering can also push them deeper raising pressures.
 
I've been staying out of the conversation for a while because I got tired of speculating. Since the weather cleared up today, I put a few rounds through my chronograph. Average was ~710 fps out of my 2" Detective Special. There were no pressure signs on the cases from what I could tell and recoil was about what I get from WWB. So, it doesn't seem to be all that 'hot' afterall.
