.38SPCL load data for 148 gr. JACKETED wadcutter?

I want to create a "fully charged wadcutter" load, but hate leading, and can't find any gas-checked full-profile wadcutter bullets anywhere. My S&W 67 has a particularly hard time with leading because of the rough forcing cones they have on their barrels now 'adays (VERY pissed about that, but that's another story).

Also, I'm afraid of using data for HBWC's because I believe the fact that these have a hollow base will create different pressures than a jacketed or even cast bullet with a normal base, but maybe I'm wrong.

I'm looking to get about 900 fps with common pistol powders like unique, universal, etc., etc..

Whip out your Lyman #49 manual and use the 150 grain DEWC (Linotype) data found on page 354.

They don't give any +P data for it, but they give several loads that exceed 900 FPS.

I've shot a lot of lead WC's, standard and beyond full power. No issues save clean holes in the paper.

That's not 'jacketed'...It's 'plated'...

On Ranier's website they explicitly say to use lead data and keep the velocity less than magnum ones.

I use the same bullet, sometimes the Berry's version, very happy with them. I stuck one in the bore of my .357 using starting lead data. Too much friction on a plated DEWC to use starting lead data.

To get good velocity I load mine long, 1.420" OAL in .357 brass and treat them like a jacketed SP or HP and use starting data for those bullets. In .38 spl you can do the same thing.
