I got a deal on this nearly a year ago from a local shop. It was one of several LNIB 4" 64 traded by a security company. I believe it was $315 OTD - and had only evidence of two chambers having been shot. Actually a 64-8 with IL, MIM hammer & trigger, and two-piece barrel, it was bought to be a HD revolver. Then... I got home with it!
I had to clean up the clean innards - well, maybe not. It had never been issued. I had to replace the springs... and good wood grips were a no-brainer. Of course, those OEM UM's were comfortable. Out to the range with an assortment of ammo. It states +P rated on the barrel, so it got an assortment of those, too. It shot closest vertically to POA at 7-12 yd with 158gr LHPSWC +Ps - GA Arms and Rem's being equivalent to it, ballistically. Low with my 125gr JHP plinker loads... thought about lowering that front sight - easily done with a file. I just got used to it. It was a fun revolver on the SPC plates.
Well, nearly a year later, I have returned it's UM's square-conversion Combats to it - and cleaned it - and loaded it with those Remi's - and placed it in service defending my home, with an HKS #10 loaded with more Remi's close at hand. It almost seems sad!
Corrected for inflation, this was a deal... and a great current day alternative to a trade-in 4" 10 - easier to clean, too. Just don't do what I do - I mean, ten plus months of range trips to 'test' it and verify it's operation was possibly excessive. I should have bought two!
