I am a big believer in getting the longest sight radius possible, but in this case, is the extra 0.5" really worth it??? Makes me wonder why they even are making it. Thanks for any input.
I just put a 4.5" on layaway at the shop where I work. I don't think the extra half inch is gonna hurt anything. I just wanted more of a "full-size" if you will.
A longer sight radius is always a plus, but so is the sight picture. The stock M&P sights are very good, but not as good, in my opinion as stock sights on a Sig.
The half inch won't make a lick of difference, Stateside. Up here, it's the difference between 'you can't have it' and 'you can'. A 4" handgun is prohibited, up here. A 4.5" isn't. I seriously doubt that's the reason though.
I'm wondering the same thing. The biggest issue for me though is that I believe the 4 inch holds two less rounds, so if the grip length is the same your probably just as good with the full size.
RSY,
welcome to the forum, what exactly is the intended use of the gun, that will help us get a better understanding to allow us to point you in the right direction.
with the limited info i would personally go with the 4" all my handguns but 1 have a barrel 4" or less, 4" will serve you well and allow you to shoot accuratly as one needs at defnsive ranges, and even beyond that.
I'm looking to replace "Ol' Clunky" (my Ruger P944, which has also been Ol' Reliable, I might add) as a carry piece and "get me to my rifle/house gun." I tote it in a Wilderness Safepacker.
