I got a new digital camera last week (Canon Powershot A70) and I'm looking for excuses to use it so here is one such excuse.

Shot two different 180gr .40 S&W rounds into gallon jugs filled with water to compare the expansion. The first was a Federal Hydra-Shok and the second was a Winchester Ranger SXT.

Here's the pic:

Each expanded to roughly the diameter of a penny across the longest expanse. The Winchester "peeled" down a lot further. Both expanded nicely IMO. I've been loading the Hydra-Shoks primarily but I think I may switch over to an SXT. Hope someone enjoys the results of my goofing off. :)

i think the winchester will probably fragment through a human moreso than the hydrashock, but when it comes to manstopping power, fragmentation is a good thing.

Thanks ya'll! I always have fun doing little things like that and I'm glad someone else enjoys the results. Now I need to get my hands on some Golden Sabers and Cor-Bons for my next comparison. :)
