40 S&W OAL for 180gr round nose.

Does anyone have an OAL for this?

For some reason, I ordered 180 grain round nose (RN) from Berry's.

I know it can be done, I just don't have any sources of information for what the OAL should be.

Berrys only lists a 180 grain RS so I am guessing that is what you intended to post. I seat mine from 1.120 to 1.135 depending on the load.

No, it really is round nose, not round side. I've had these bullets for a couple of years, so Berry's obviously stop producing them probably for lack of sales.

I'm loading them as I'm trying to clean up the leftovers before I go out and buy more supplies.

Clarification

Could someone help me?

Long time reloader here, just beginning to load for a Smith&Wesson M&P 40S&W.
1). Using new Lee Dies, with Hornady lock rings.
2). 180gr Berry's JHP
3). Loading 5.5gr Unique Powder behind Winchester Standard Pistol Primer
4). OAL? read testimonials of 1.120 to 1.135 OAL

Problem, my magazines (5) all require 1.15 OAL

What gives??

Thanks to all you experts and experienced reloaders that understand this problem, and can set my wagon back up.

Take the barrel out of the gun and use it to chamber check your OAL at the bench.
Seat short enough the bullet isn't hitting the rifling leade.
They should freely drop in out out of the chamber by thier own weight.

Whatever that OAL turns out to be is what it is for your barrel.
I'd guess it might turn out to be 1.115" or there abouts.

Problem, my magazines (5) all require 1.15 OAL
SAAMI MAX OAL for the .40 S&W is 1.135" with any bullet.

So, your magazine doesn't "require" 1.150".

Do you mean allow 1.150? If you magazines will accept a longer bullet I am sure they will funtion at normal lengths. Have you ever shot factory ammunition? All factory ammo that I have measured runs 1.120 to 1.125. I don't have an M&P but my beretta like 1.20 to 1.25 depending on the shape of the nose, I can go a little longer with plated TC but stick to 1.125 for the most part.
