I was shooting reloads today out of my normally very reliable springfield P9Ultra. The loads were 155 grn Berry RN's with 6.6 grns of AA5, cci500 primers, starline brass loaded to 1.132 COL.
The rounds were consistently jamming the first 3 or 4 rounds out of the magazine against the top of the barrel hood. To clear the jam I either had to drop the mag and the round would fall out, or pull the slide back slightly and push the bullet in the chamber and then drop the slide again.
I was thinking the problem is one of 3 things. One the recoil spring needs changing (2000 rnds on it so far). Two the COL is to long, 1.132 should be more like 1.125. Or three the mag spring needs to be replaced (springs are at least 8 years old, never stored loaded).
I have fired the gun over 6,900 times and this is a very recent (today) problem that I have not encountered before. Normally this gun is 100% reliable.
Any suggestions or ideas?
