I have a 1911 a 45 acp But love loading odd ball cartridges. i was reading about the 400 cor-bon and it seems to only be a barrel change, roto 4m makes a barrel for about $60 but I have read bad things about them (mostly older threads) i am wondering if anyone has resent experience with them, thank you in advance

I bought a .400 Cor Bon drop in barrel and six boxes of ammo several years ago from the Sportsman's Guide I believe...and for some reason I never installed it nor fired the ammo. I ended up consigning the lot a my local gun store and making my $$ back.

The round looked like it had some horsepower, but in all honestly I just got lazy I guess...

I have no experience with that company/brand, but I do have an unmarked old drop in .400 Corbon barrel that I load for. It's fun if you like something different once in a while.

I bought a drop-in 1911 barrel and loading dies 20-ish years ago. The problem I found was the neck is too short to adequately hold the bullet in place.

I would get bullet set-back fairly often, and it would run the pressures up to the point that I would get severely flattened primers. This would happen with both reloads and Corbon factory ammo.

I understand wanting an inexpensive caliber change. But if you want 10mm power, get a 10mm top end fit to your gun.
