i got myself a silverfinish Ruger Speed Six in .357 just under 400$ maybe that answers ur question=)

Cokeman, I own both a 3913 (earlier than the TSW) and a G23--and I like 'em both. The S&W definitely feels smaller and more concealable. At this stage, I carry it more than the 23. But you'll need to handle one to see if it floats your boat. It's a DA/SA, which Jeff Cooper disparagingly called a "crunch-n-ticker," meaning that the first shot is DA, and subsequent shots are SA. Some really don't like this arrangement. I like it fine. YMMV.

If you had $400 to spend on a gun, what would you get?

We discussed this at the gun shop, theoretically, and the same amount of money . The owner (who runs a farm, keeps a freezer of venison, served in VietNam) presented two scenarios:

For $400, you could buy a sporting rifle and one or two 20 round boxes of softnose hunting ammo, shoot enough to check the zero on the sights and have a few rounds for a hunting trip; or, you cound buy a $99.95 Mosin-Nagant and $300 worth of ammo divided among $39.95 spam cans of mil-surp and and 20 round boxes of softnose hunting ammo, and be able to shoot enough to develop some real skill and have ammo for several hunting seasons.

an abused 1911 (preferably a Colt) that has some chronic problem (likely due to a botched home gunsmith job) that I can use as a base platform for my next project.
