is there any other cal of die that will work with a 40cal ? like any odd size foreign dies? somebody said that the 10mm was the same as a 40cal but what i looked at looked different... just looking for options, i have several die sets but not one for 40cal, didnt really want to buy new and i havnt found any used ones around here close to home,.... thanks

All .40 S&W die sets will also load 10mm with a seimple die adjustment.

But not all 10mm die sets will load the shorter .40 S&W because the seating / crimp die may be too long for the shorter case.

There is nothing else I can think of that would load either one.

If you already have a 10mm set you can try them as-is and they may work. If the seater and expander are too long you can grind a couple of tenths off the bottom and they will then be short enough to accept 40 S&W.

That's what I had to do with my 10mm Lee die set, because it was an older 10mm set, not 10mm/40 as is common now. I was willing to spring for a separate 40 cal set but they seem to be out of stock everywhere.

The only difference between a 40S&W and a 10mm case is .142" in length. The 10mm is longer and uses large pistol primers. That's it as far as I know....good luck

.40 S&W is a shortened version of 10mm Auto. So most, if not all 10mm Auto dies will work for .40 S&W, and vice versa, with adjustment for expansion and seating / crimp. Some use a spacer to make for a quick adjustment between the sizes. I can't remember what the measurement is, but I'm sure someone can chime in with that info.
