Any one reload these bullets? I have both the 7th edition Hornady Reloading manual and the Lyman Reloading manual 49th edition and neither of these list recipes for this bullet. Hornady does have recipe for a 180gr SWC.
Also, what does the TCFP stand for?
Thanking you in advance for the help.

TCFP= Truncated Cone Flat Point.

I can offer no observations about using them in .40 Short & Weak, since I load 10mm Auto (vbg); I can tell you, however, that this bullet design is intended to work well with semiautos--better than some of early-design LSWCs I also have on hand. It simply will feed better.

You might try comparing the MB bullet's LOA to the 180 LSWC and see if it will have a noticeably-different seating depth. But, I'll bet you can substitute it in and work up a good-running recipe simply by starting with the start load.

I load em on top of 6.3 grains of SR-4756. They work great!

Minimal leading and pretty darn accurate. I'll buy more.

For seating depth I just used my barrel as a check, then made sure they would fit in the magazine. The magazine was the decider for me for C.O.L.

ruger1228, I am currently test loading MBC 180 gr with W231/HP38 and Promo.

W231/HP38 - All loads at 1.125" OAL
3.7 - Soft recoil and accurate
4.0 - Mild recoil and accurate
4.3 - Moderate recoil and accurate
4.6/4.8 - Hard recoil and accurate

Promo - All loads at 1.125" OAL
4.0 - Mild recoil and accurate
4.2 - Firm recoil and accurate
4.5 - Moderate recoil and accurate
4.8 - Hard recoil and accurate

I will be doing additional testing with W231/HP38 at 4.0/4.3 gr and Promo at 4.0/4.2 gr as they cycled the slide reliably with accurate shot groups.

3.2 grains of Clays. Winchester small pistol primer. 1.130" overall length.
Plenty accurate in my Sigma. Probably 300 to 400 of these through this pistol.
I put a coating of Lee Liquid Alox on these and all cast bullets I shoot. Doesn't seem to hurt.

Planning on trying some AA#7 with these at some point.

All the Best,
D. White

bds,
Thanks for the information. I use HP-38 so the information you provided is helpfull. Let me know after your further experimentation. I will be interested in your findings.
Any idea on what the velocity is on the rounds loaded with the 4.3gr of HP-38?

You are welcome. Sorry, no chrono here as I have access to plenty of shooters who have them for the outdoor range. Since I shot the test loads in the indoor range, can't setup the chrono anyways (meant to buy one several times ... maybe for Father's day). :D My guess would be around 800+ fps, maybe.

For years I have loaded 4.3 gr of W231/HP38 with 180 gr Rainier plated bullets with good accuracy. Missouri lead bullet with 4.3 gr charge seemed to shoot "hotter" than the Rainier load, that's why I wanted to do more comparison tests for accuracy with the lighter charges. I will be going back to the range on Thursday afternoon, so I will report back what shot groups I get for 7/10/15 yards for 4.0/4.3 gr loads.

I also have Bullseye and WSF, so if I have time, I may load some with these powders too - should be a good comparison.
