Does anyone continue to use Bluedot in their .41 Mag despite the warnings from Alliant that came out a couple of years ago? I used 10.1 grs. of Bluedot behind a 215 LSWC for years with great success and as far as I know, no pressure problems. It seemed rather odd when I never had any problems but I quit using it after the warnings came out. I'm using 2400 now but I sure have a bunch of Bluedot I'd like to use. Opinions?

Jayhawker: Bluedot in .41mag is a good and safe load with that loading. I use it myself the same bullet only I use 10.0 gr

When I had my .41, I used blue dot too without any problems. Something must have changed to get the warning from Alliant. It seems that there is no warning with the 357 and 44 mag loads using Blue Dot, you would think if it would create a problem with the 41, it would with the 357 & 44. They should know more about powder than me ...so I would go with their warning though.

From my understanding, the issue with BD is more for the upper end loads where it's pressure gets pretty wild pretty quick in some cases. They determined that it was easier on them and everyone else, to simply drop any recommendations for the loads being used, which caused the most issues and curb the potential for any class action sort of mess.

Jayhawker: Blue Dot has always been my go to powder for medium to heavy loads in my 44 Magnum revolver and I can't see why it would be an excellent one for the 41 Mag. It's been around as a magnum pistol powder for many years.

I agree that there is nothing specific to the .41 Mag that shouldn't also apply to the .357 & .44 Mag's. But they were not the deemed to be a problem.

The whole problem stemmed from new Alliant tests that showed that several of their previously published .41 Mag MAX loads exceeded max pressure.
Rather then just saying so, they said No Blue Dot in .41 Magnum, period.

Supposedly, their will be new .41 Mag data published by Alliant at some point.

In the mean time, don't use MAX .41 Mag load data published years ago.

If I recall correctly, the warning said no Blue Dot for any .41 Mag loads, and no Blue Dot for 125gr only .357 loads.
