Reverse that bullet out of a short barrel .41 and you'd have a bitchin SD round.

This M57 and a Marlin 1894CS were left to me, along with a couple Old West Bullet Molds, 230gr and 265gr GC. They were my late father's guns and his molds that he manufactured.
Occasionally, my friend that has cattle here on the Central Coast in Santa Cruz, CA, let's me go hunt for hogs after we feed the cattle, and this is what I bring along with the lever gun.
No luck yet with the pigs, but sooner or later I'll come across one.

That Marlin with the 265gc will do good on the piggies. Punch them through the shoulders or about 1" below the ear channal. Both those weapons are good for hunting and will do all you need for any rooter.

There ya go! Can't put my finger on it, but there's somethin' "right" about a .41 Magnum Blackhawk...4.625 barrels and cast SWCs just round out the package.
I've got one in each barrel length. The 6.5 is nice and a fine shooter...but that short one just hits me in the right place.
Please add me to the list of 41 mag lovers. I have hunted Texas whitetail with it for over two decades. I have three of them. Two stainless Redhawks and a Taurus 415 snub I carry quite often.
This was my first 41 mag....a 7.5" Redhawk with a 2X Leupold EER Pistol Scope. Frank V, this gun is laying on the cape of a Spotted Fallow I took with it, at 84 yards. The load was a 210 Hornady XTP handload on top of a maximum charge of Hogdon 110. After a broadside shot he took one step and collapsed and never moved. The 41 mag, properly loaded and proper shot placement has no problem taking most any North American Game Animals.
To my knowledge, this is the only 4" Redhawk in 41 mag in the world.....I cut it down from a 5.5".
I never feel undergunned carrying this Taurus, even though it is only a 5 shot revolver.

I'm glad you explained you had that second Redhawk cut down to 4", I didn't think Ruger had ever produced a factory version in that barrel length. I've also got that same Taurus, it isn't fun to shoot with any loads.

Fired a few 240 grainers with 16 grains 2400 and they were plenty. Fired a couple 265 grainers with the same charge and decided to stick with the 210´s.
Then there is the 4" Titanium Tracker. I am very content to carry that light weight 5 shot with 210 grainers at 950 fps. If I need more than that I will keep on shooting till it clicks alot. But it is a very nice revolver to tote about all day whether afoot or paddling about in a kayak.

One thing I always wanted for my 41 mag were shotshells. Since no one makes them, I decided to make my own. It involves 5gr of Bullseye topped by a gascheck, filled almost to the top with #6 shot. Then turn another gascheck upside down and force inside the case. Gently crimp. Make sure the gascheck does not extend past the top of the case or it won't properly fit into the cylinder. Shootint them out of my 7.5" Redhawk will turn a lemon, which is about the size of a Texas Rattlesnake head, into lemon juice a 10'. A little shorter range when shot out of my 4" Redhawk.

Mine is also ported, with light loads it's tolerable, with really hot loads it isn't user friendly.

I met a guy a few years ago that was a machinist at a company that made molded plastic parts and he actually made his own .41 shot capsules (they looked like the Speer version) He gave me a couple to try (never did) I offered to buy a couple hundred to hand out. When I went back to where the guy worked they told me he'd been "let go" and didn't know how to reach him, I didn't persue it any further.
Okay here we go, better add me as a member. I have a 58 a 657 and 57-4, all S&Ws of course. All are excellent shooters.
The Model 58 is the middle one in there with its Nickel cousins. It is sporting period correct Modifed Magna Stocks.
The 657 6-inch is snuggled up under its 629 8 3/8 inch big brother.

Just a heads up for some of you who cast your own.....
Ranch Dog Outdoors has put some of his 6 holer Lee Custom molds on the Specials page. Might be a great chance or only chance to pick them up.
Here's what is posted on his homepage,
"Check out the “Specials” listed in the box on the left side of this page.
Ranch Dog is discontinuing these items to make room for his 2012 offerings. Not only is now the time to take advantage of the discount pricing but these items may not be offered again."
I have been wanting one for a while and decided to go ahead and pick up the full kit for $80. I have been wanting to get a heavy boolit for my Redhawk anyway so this should fit the bill just fine.

I had also posted this on another forum to which I got this reply,
I can vouch for the quality of the RD molds and sizers. They work great!
But this particular bullet is designed for the Marlin 1894FG and will not chamber in a lot of 41 Mag revolvers due to the diameter of the nose portion.
My experience with my personal guns:
Ruger Redhawk: Works great
Taurus Raging Bull: Works great
Ruger Blackhawks: Depends on which one, generally will not chamber or chambers with difficulty.
S&W 657: Will not chamber
The above is using the bullet sized to .411" (the sizer included in the package deal) and seated to the crimp groove.
It is a good mold, but I don't want people to order this for their revolver and be disappointed and then have a negative view of RD products.
I was unaware of the fit issues on the other revolvers, so you might want to check with RD on the fit first, just to be sure, if your ordering for one of the lower listed revolvers.

I had the opportunity to shoot a .41 recently. Nice blend of power and weight. Ruger Blackhawk. Does this caliber make any sense to a person who doesn't reload? I don't at present. But I love the way these shoot. I'm just not seeing any of this ammo available. It would seem .41's only make sense for handloaders. Teach me.
