.41 Mag Association

Mark,

Do you have Brass?

Starline has it on Back Order.

I received mine last Friday.
no brass yet, but my honey hole shop has then in retail bags. About a year ago, someone unloaded there .41 Mag collection and they had a 5 gallon bucket full. I think the cost was $10/100

You know don’t have the Gun or bullets for it yet.

Those Dillion Dies were only $65+tax new

Your Dies will go bad and out of warranty if you don't start prepping Brass with them in the next couple of weeks.

Protect your investment while you are deciding on which and/or how many .41 Mags you are going to bring home.

It's just a matter of time before you are an official Club Member.
May as well get ahead of the game and get busy prepping that Brass.

At $0.10/ea, I'd be buying 1,000 pieces!.

True story:
I had a set of 41 Mag dies sitting on my shelf for years. I'm not certain how I came to own them; perhaps a long-forgotten trade, or a lot purchase.
However it was, there they sat. I moved them out of the way from time to time, each time pondering why I even had them. I thought about selling them, and perhaps would have if they had been worth big bucks.
I considered using the die set as trade bait, or just giving them away. Nothing came of any ideas, so the dies just sat there - year after year.

Then on a visit to the big Wanenmacher Gunshow in Tulsa I was walking down an aisle, and heard a whisper "Hooda! Over here!". I looked over, and a 41 Mag 3-screw Ruger - well used and original - leapt off the table into my hands.
As if it was meant to be.

And, I already had the dies...

I’ll get one! The idea of a Ruger SA in .41 sounds nice! Short barrel Stainless!!

About a year ago I got this S&W Model 28-2, which is supposed to be a .357 Magnum, but this one is chambered in .41 Magnum!
Good ammo source for .41 Magnum:

I saw one of these today on one of the gun auction site. I thought model/caliber was a typo. I might have to go back and look at it again

I've looked at more 41s than I can remember but I don't recall ever seeing a 28 reworked into a 41. The words 41 mag is my dog whistle.

Same here... I'd never heard of the 28/57 conversion.

Gun Show, or gun store... I just can't help myself looking for .41 stuff. Even the ammo guys at the shows... I always look for .41 ammos, even though I wouldn't ever buy any of it. I just want to see it! I do the same with .348WCF guns and ammo.

While I have not personally seen one in person, I have indeed read about guys doing this.

Since the forgotten middle magnum don't get much press I figured why not start a .41 mag association. This would be the perfect place to share favorite loads guns and so on. So lets go .41 addicts lets get this ball rolling.
Did the 41 mag association ever get traction? I have model 57 and like the 41.

Anyone have a new or newer model 57 classic? My LGS has one, but I haven't jumped on it yet 🙃

I know that it has the dreaded lock☹️

Yes, I purchased a 57-6 from Gunbroker around Christmas. See posts 2128, 2169 and 2210. To say the gun was lightly used would be an understatement. I doubt the previous owner shot more than a box of shells through it.

As long as I'm writing about it, I confirmed my hunting load of 15.3 grains of 2400 with a Missouri Bullet Co. 215-grain SWC, and also worked up a target load using 8.4 grains of Unique and the same bullet. Very pleased with the gun so far.

The only complaint I have is that the factory wood grips aren't all that comfortable to shoot. I put the synthetic combat grips that it came with back on and gosh-darn if I don't shoot better with them. I really don't like synthetic grips on a revolver, so I think a set of Altamont Bateleurs are in my future.

Oh, I should also say I'm not crazy about the red front sight insert. I taped over it so the surface I see when I'm aiming is black. Easy fix, no reason not to buy one.
