I've been loading hornady xp/xtp 210s at 20.8 h110. I have some sierrra 210s but don't have any load data in any of my manuals that match. If I seat the bullet to mid cannelure the oal is 1.565". does anyone know the minimum oal for this bullet? My manuals only list h110 for the xp/xtp. There must be a load for the h110 with this bullet. Any help here would be appreciated.

The old Sierra book says 20.8gr of H110 is maximum with their 210gr bullet, more recent Sierra data from my compiled load book list 20.1grs as maximum with 19.6grs as their accuracy load. (Remington Cases and CCI 350 primers).

Cartridge OAL listed at 1.580"

Wow, thats a lot of variation between the two replies so far. In my experience with H110 a little means a lot. I would have to go with the Sierra data book seeing though its their bullet. Don't want to break my gun. Its a S&W 657 just a few months old. Any idea who has the latest Sierra manual? Everywhere I've checked its out of stock.

Thanks

I used Federal Large Pistol Magnum Match primers for mine.

Only a couple had left over specs on max. load. The 19.9gr and 21gr loads I did it was all burnt up.

They were 3$/100 where I got them.

Federal hard to find right now. Last weekend, Cabela's said they were 3 months back order.

Win. large pistol will work, or CCI large pistol magnum.

I've been using standard primers with pretty good results. Whats the advantage of using magnum primers?

I'm also trying to work up a load for .41 mag sierra 210 gr JHC using H4227. I got some H4227 today to see if it would work in my Lyman 1200 DPS dispenser and it works great. H110 kept jamming it up so I had to resort to weighing each load manually, really slow and a pain in the butt. Dont have any load data for the 210 JHC and Sierra manuals are on back order. Got any load data for the Sierra 210 JHC .41 mag using H4227?

Thank you.

Lee book has 22gr max load as compressed with 210gr XTP bullets.
The book shows large pistol primers for the recipe for 41 magnum.

I will use some Federal 150 (large pistol) with 20gr H110 load on next handful to see how they do.

Factory Remington 210gr JSP had the most recoil of any load I have shot in the 41. I have since added a scope, and the extra weight has really lowered the felt recoil.

My current load which is very accurate and repeatable in the S&W 657 7 1/2" bbl Hornady 210 xp/xtp with 20.8 gr H110 CCI LP primers. This thread was started because I acquired some Sierra 210 gr JHC bullets for the .41 but had no specific load data for that bullet. The surface area of the Sierra bullet in contact with the rifling is considerably more than the Hornady XP/XTP so I was looking for a compensated load for the extra friction to give the equivalent results of the Hornady load. Thank you to all for all your input but after lots of testing I found that 13.0 gr of blue dot under the Sierra 210 JHC gives pretty darn near the same results as the XP/XTP with 20.8gr of H110. Again thanks to all.
