the situation is a damaged .410 single shot from rust which i'm trying to fix and i'm almost done except for the firing pin which is locked by a screw from the top of the receiver which is rusted too and won't come out so i want to put new screw adjacent but it will be going straight down instead of diagonal as the original, so can i proceed?
thanks for any reply

If you have the tools & ability to drill & tap a new hole in the receiver?

You should have the ability to drill the old screw out and chase or re-tap the old threads.

Then put it back in the same place, just like it should be.

that was considered but didn't know at which angle to drill to follow the diagonal
position of the screw
thank you,
