i finally have a way to reload our 3" 410 shells. i had picked out some wads that i thought would work. only to find out they are for 2 1/2 inch shells. i have no idea where to find a wad (shot cup) chart for this. the guy i bought the reloading tools from said he has used cardboard cut to the right diameter to fill the extra space with whatever he was using. but that sounds so hokey, it isn't even funny. the last shotshells i loaded was over 20 years ago, and i had the right wads. i would like to do that here. but i need a little help to get the right ones

The extended length 3" wads used years ago, is no longer made, at least to my knowledge. 3" shells are loaded with 2.5" length wads these days, and 11/16 oz is the factory rated load.
I use Rem. SP410 wads and Claybuster replacements in both 2.5" and 3" hulls, with alliant 410 powder in 2.5" and H110 in the 3". I load 5/8 oz in my own 3" loads.

It really doesn't seem to matter what wad I use in the 410.... they all seem to be pretty close in the loading data in regards to pressure. I still load 3/4 oz loads and have good luck with them.

I made my own loader and roll crimp the loads with a prescision reloading roll crimper and they come out just like factory loads. He may have been talking about the overshot card for roll crimping.

Just keep in mind that the Winchester HS hulls use a different wad they are red. I beleive that the hulls are a bit thicker than others so they use a slightly smaller wad diameter.
